MASTER'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT
The Master’s program in Engineering and Quality Management emphasizes engineering and management techniques applied to process quality planning, control, and improvement, as well as product and service design and enhancement.
With a curriculum focused on topics of recognized importance for process dynamics and organizational improvement, the Master’s program in EQM provides advanced training with an emphasis on two key areas:
(i) The improvement of process and product quality
(ii) The integration of Quality Management into organizational management.

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
A Master in Engineering and Quality Management can work in all types of companies and organizations, from industry to services, both public and private, regardless of their size or economic sector.
Graduates of this program have a distinctive education in the quantitative aspects of Engineering and Quality Management, enabling them to take on diverse and highly demanding roles. Some examples include:

THESIS
Each academic year, students submit their dissertations by the end of October. Completed dissertations can be accessed in the RepositóriUM.
ACCESS METHODS
The selection of candidates for enrollment in the Study Cycle is carried out by the Directive Committee, taking into account the following selection criteria:
– Academic qualifications classification;
– Academic, scientific, and technical curriculum;
– Professional experience;
– Native language – Portuguese or a certificate of proficiency in Portuguese (when applicable);
Additionally, when deemed appropriate by the selection committee, an interview may be conducted with each candidate, in which case the interview result will be considered in the ranking of candidates.

ADMISSION
Candidates for the Master’s program may apply if they meet the following criteria:
– Holders of a bachelor’s degree or legally equivalent qualification in the fields of Exact or Natural Sciences, or with a European-recognized equivalent qualification;
– Holders of a foreign higher academic degree or an academic (scientific or professional) curriculum recognized by the CC/CTC of UOEI as meeting the objectives of a bachelor’s degree and demonstrating the capacity to complete this study cycle.

Accreditation by A3ES
The Higher Education Assessment and Accreditation Agency (A3ES) renewed the accreditation of the Master’s in Engineering and Quality Management (MEGQ) unconditionally for six years on September 14, 2020, and approved modifications to the curriculum. Academic Degree
The master’s degree is awarded to students who complete 120 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits, along with the preparation and public defense of a dissertation.

Certifications
Students who successfully complete the coursework phase of the program are entitled to the following certificates:
- Diploma in Advanced Training in Engineering and Quality Management, issued by the University of Minho (UMinho)
- Internal Quality Auditor Qualification (ISO 9001), a course leading to personnel certification by SGS Portugal. This certification is issued by SGS Portugal as part of the “Seminars” course unit. Certification is subject to attendance and successful completion of SGS Seminars
- Training Certificate in Metrology, issued by the Portuguese Association for Quality (APQ). This certification is issued by APQ as part of the “Seminars” course unit. Certification is subject to attendance and successful completion of APQ Seminars
