MASTER'S DEGREE IN HUMAN ENGINEERING

The technical-scientific field of Human Engineering is now recognized as a key element in modern and efficient industrial management. It is no longer possible to conceive the effective management of any type of industrial or service system without applying the techniques and methodologies integrated into the various disciplines that make up what is commonly known as Human Engineering.

This program aims to provide postgraduate-level training in Human Engineering, focusing on core disciplines such as Ergonomics, Occupational Safety, and Hygiene. The goal is to equip companies with qualified professionals, ensuring compliance with legal requirements while contributing to the sustainable development of organizations through improved working conditions.

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

A Master’s in Human Engineering can perform the following roles:

THESIS

Each academic year, students submit their dissertations by the end of October. Completed dissertations can be accessed in the RepositóriUM.

ACCESS METHODS

The selection of candidates for enrollment in the Study Cycle is carried out by the Directive Committee, taking into account the following selection criteria:

– Academic qualifications classification;

– Academic, scientific, and technical curriculum;

– Professional experience;

Additionally, when deemed appropriate by the selection committee, an interview may be conducted with each candidate, in which case the interview result will be considered in the ranking of candidates.

ADMISSION

Candidates for the Master’s program may apply if they meet the following criteria:

– Holders of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Ergonomics, Psychology, Medicine, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or holders of bachelor’s degrees in related fields; or holders of first-cycle education with equivalent European recognition;

– Candidates with a first-cycle education in other fields may also be accepted, provided the candidate has experience in the scientific area of the course.

Accreditation by A3ES

The Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (A3ES) accredited the Master’s in Human Engineering (MEH) unconditionally for a period of six years on July 31, 2020, in accordance with the recommendation and justification provided by the respective External Evaluation Committee. Academic Degree

The master’s degree is awarded to students who have completed 120 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits, along with the preparation and public defense of a dissertation.

Certifications

The program is approved by the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) under Law No. 42/2012, of August 28, as a training course for Senior Occupational Safety Technicians (TS ST).
Participation in the program allows students to attend (with the right to an individual certificate):
